Why was Marilyn Monroe such an Icon of the 1950,60s?
Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1st, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Her birth name was Norma Jeane Mortenson. It is said that Norma was given her stage name “Marilyn Monroe” by a talent scout named Ben Lyon. The last name Monroe coming from her mother’s maiden name and the first name Marilyn originating from another stage actress named, Marilyn Miller. Marilyn Monroe’s role of the late 1950’s was to entertain with class, and put a smile on everyone’s face.

Marilyn Monroe was found dead in the bedroom of her Brentwood home by her psychiatrist Ralph Greenson after he was called by Monroe’s housekeeper Eunice Murray on August 5, 1962. She was 36 years old at the time of her death. Her death was ruled to be “acute barbiturate poisoning” by Dr. Thomas Noguchi of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office and listed as “probable suicide”. Many individuals, including Jack Clemmons, the first Los Angeles Police Department officer to arrive at the death scene, believe that she was murdered. No murder charges were ever filed. The death of Monroe has since become one of the most debated conspiracy theories of all time. Many have made the assumption that Kennedy was the one who had murdered Monroe after talk of a sex tape that has yet to be found. The affair of President Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe remains in history as one of the most scandalous of the 1950’s. Marilyn’s death is still be investigated today.

It was in 1946 after dying her hair bleach blonde that Marilyn Monroe became a hot catch to every talent scout in Hollywood. She was a fashion icon to all women and still to this day is known for her infamous blonde bob.
The people of Hollywood were absolutely infatuated with Marilyn. She carried herself with class, and stood by what she believed in. This is an interview of her when she returned to Hollywood after being away to film a movie of hers.

According to friends of Marilyn, a relationship developed between Marilyn and the two Kennedy brothers. She was believed to have had separate affairs with the two men simultaneously. Her relationships with Robert and John, unknown to the public, became the talk of Hollywood. Marilyn was often seen dancing or in intimate conversation at private parties with Bobby or John. According to her closest friends, her heart belonged to the elder brother, John.
