Tom Cruise worked his magic and managed to get Miles completely on board as a result, we now have an instant classic of a movie with Teller playing a pivotal role that even leaves some room for an eventual trilogy on the cards

Ever since we all started watching interviews of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ from all the cast, it was evident some of the actors suffered during training. Tom Cruise made it a mission for all of them to truly learn how much real life fighter pilots suffer in preparation for their jobs.

In fact, he confessed that he wrote a manual to help all actors how to fly those jet planes. What came during those arduous training sessions is a bittersweet feeling from many of those actors. However, Miles Teller is the one who seems to have suffered the most out of all the others. When you see exchanges between Tom Cruise and Miles during interviews, you can see them bickering constantly.

Teller claims Tom Cruise wasn’t specific when he tried to convince him to play the role of ‘Rooster’, specifically about the training process. Had he known it would be this physically challenging beforehand, there’s a good chance he would’ve turned down the role.

But Tom Cruise worked his magic and managed to get Miles completely on board. As a result, we now have an instant classic of a movie with Teller playing a pivotal role that even leaves some room for an eventual trilogy on the cards. Out of all the stories told from that preparation, the one Miles revealed about his blood contamination is by far the most impressive.

During an interview with Seth Myers, Miles Teller revealed a Tom Cruise moment right after a training session on those jets: “We landed and I’m just like, ‘Man, I’m not feeling too good.’ I was really hot and I just started itching like crazy, so I get out of the jet and I’m just covered in hives, like head to toe. Instantly, I go to a doctor, I do like a blood analysis, this, that whatever. I’m in an oatmeal bath at night. So I go to the doctor and my blood work comes back and I have flame-retardant, pesticides, and jet fuel in my blood.

“Then I thought, ‘Wait a second, this is actually kind of cool.’ So I go to set the next day and Tom [Cruise] is like, ‘So how did it go, Miles? What did they find?’ I was like, ‘Well, Tom, it turns out I have jet fuel in my blood.’ And without even skipping a beat, Tom just goes, ‘Yeah, I was born with it kid.’ So that was a very Tom moment for me.”
