She is an American actress who did a lot of work between the 1960s and 1980s. She was married twice in her life – to Nedrick Young and then to Charles Hasley after the former’s demise. She studied acting in New York City at the Herbert Berghof Studio and Arts Student’s League. Uta Hagen was her batch mate at the Herbert Berghof Studio. She is popular for her role as Lou Anne Poovie on the series Gomer Pyle and played a substantive role in the Oscar-nominated drama The Conversation. Other films that she made guest appearances including Love in a Goldfish Bowl(1960), Everything’s Ducky(1961), For Love Or Money(1963),

The Incredible Mr. Limpet(1964) in which she did a voice over, and much more. Various TV shows that she starred in include Naked City, Harrigan, and Son, Maverick, Surfside Six, etc. Her papers are kept in the Southern Historical Collection of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. These include two publicity photographs, an audio tape from an interview she gave in 1967 and scripts from the various shows she worked in. These are not available for public access.

Elizabeth MacRae was born on 22nd February 1936 in Columbia and then raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
